Artwork Guidelines

Our expert production team will work with you to ensure your artwork looks as good as possible when it’s printed or embroidered. These guidelines aim to help you when submitting the artwork for your order.

General Guidelines

Maximum Size for Embroidery or Printing

The maximum width for embroidery is 25cm and for print is 40cm, although this is dependent on the position of the customisation and the size of the garment. The height of your logo or image will automatically be scaled according to the width you select.

Positions for Printing & Embroidery

We can print and embroidery your logo or design in a range of positions. The positions available will depend on the products you select but popular positions include left or right chest, full width across the front chest, left or right sleeve and full width across the top of the back. If the positions available aren’t quite right for your needs, just contact our expert team as we can usually help with your specific needs.

Printing & Embroidery Limitations

There may be certain limitations as some designs cannot be embroidered, such as those with colour gradients or very intricate designs. However, our expert team will work with you to ensure you make the best selection for your design.

Colours

Embroidery threads are matched using Madeira’s pantone chart matching system to guarantee that we find the closest thread colour for your design. If you want a specific pantone colour to be used for your printed design, it is important that you specify these when you place your order.

Artwork & File Types

Artwork Quality & Resolution

You should try and upload the best quality, highest resolution version of your logo or image to ensure the best end results. We normally ask for files to be 300 DPI or higher. If you upload a file that we feel is too low quality to print or embroider, our team will contact you to discuss how best to proceed.

Removing Image Backgrounds

Many file types, such as png and eps, support image transparencies. If you have a background that needs to be removed it is best to use one of these formats.

File Types

You can upload your image or logo file simply and easily online. We accept the following image file types: jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, ai, eps, ps, pdf, png, psd, svg, tiff, tif. The maximum size file you can upload is 50mb.

Printing (Screen Print/Digital Transfer)

Vector AI files and EPS files

Vector Illustrator and EPS files are our preferred files types for printing. Please note that Adobe PDFs must be created from vector files and maintain edit capabilities. Also, remember that if you save a bitmap as an AI or EPS file that it is still a bitmap and cannot be used.

Embedding fonts and converting fonts to paths (or curves)

If your logo has any fonts / typefaces, then these MUST be converted to paths or curves – depending on your software package. This means that the font is converted to a graphic object that cannot be changed. If this is not done, then when we receive your file and don’t have the equivalent font, we can’t match your artwork.

TIF and PSD bitmap files

These files, which are suitable for single colour printing, should be sized to the exact size (or larger) than the actual print size and must be at least 300dpi. Colours should be separated in layers. Please note these are not our preferred files and we may need to charge extra if we need to manipulate the file. Please note, this format is not suitable for CAD CUT.

Embroidery

High resolution JPG, BMP, TIF, EPS, AI

All files types are accepted if they are high quality resolution.

Setup Fees & Proofs

For all first-time orders, there is a £12 fee for logos or graphics to be converted into a digitized embroidery format. This is a one-off fee and your embroidered artwork will be held on file for future orders. There is no set up fee for printing.

Proofing

It is important to remember that we will not print or embroider any garments before they have been proofed by email and then approved by you. We have an experienced team who will check your order and flag any potential issues. Before we proceed with production of your order, we will send you an artwork proof with a photo via email for your approval.

If you have any questions about artwork, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly UK customer service team who are on hand to help you.
